Helical pile and anchor technology is nothing new.
In fact, this technology has been around and in use since the mid-1800s. Not only has it been around for this long, but it was also the primary deep foundation technology that was used in the mid to late 19th century.
The first recorded use of screw-piles was documented by Alexander Mitchell in 1836. Later, in 1838, the screw-piles were applied by Mitchell on behalf of Foundations for Maplin Sands Lighthouse in England.
However, over the last 25 years, we have seen a very dramatic resurgence of its usage all over the globe. This is primarily due to the fact that we now have much higher capacity torque motors to take care of the installation process.
